Android - Send Messages with the PrimeCall App

View the Conversations in the Messages Tab

On the Messages  (1) tab, you can check and respond to your chat messages and SMS messages.

  • The numbers in blue dots (2) indicates how many unread messages there are in a conversation.
  • Tap a chat or SMS conversation to respond back with text, images, or audio messages. 
  • Tap the Add New  (3) button to start a new conversation with someone. 

Handle Chats and Text Messages

To send a chat or SMS message to someone, select and existing conversation, start a new conversation, or use the Contacts  tab to send a message to a contact instead of having to use emails or calls.

The Attachment  (3) icon can be tapped to choose what kind of media will be attached to a chat or text message using the VoiceDocumentCamera, and Gallery (2) icons.

Send a New Message

There are many different ways to start a new conversation with someone:

  • New phone number
    1. Visit the Messages 
    2. Tap the Add New  button.
    3. Type the new phone number in the Recipient field.
  • A new conversation with a Contact
    1. Visit the Messages 
    2. Tap the Add New  button.
    3. In the Contact Directory, search and select the contact's name.
    4. If needed, tap the Delete X (4) to remove a phone number or contact from the Recipient field (5).
  • New group conversation
    1. Visit the Messages 
    2. Tap the Add New  button.
    3. Type a phone number in the Recipient field or select a contact.
    4. Add more participants by selecting other contacts or typing in more phone numbers.
  • Recent interactions
    1. Visit the Messages 
    2. Search and select the name of the participant to open their conversation.
  • Through the Contacts tab
    1. Touch the Contacts  tab.
    2. Search for the contact's name.
    3. Tap the Messages  icon next to the contact's name.

After starting a new conversation, you can send text, emojis, and media files to the other participant. You can save or delete any drafts. After composing messages or attaching files in the message field, touch the Send  button.

Send a Media Message

The media files that you can exchange with other users include documents, photos, videos, and audio files. You can delete, share, and forward these media files.

Attach Media for a Message

The users can send or attach media files to text messages using the chat feature of this application.

  1. Open a conversation in the Messages  tab.
  2. Touch the Attachment  icon.
  3. Touch a media file option:

    • Camera - Take a photo or record a video with the mobile device and attach it.
    • Gallery - Select an existing photo or video on the mobile device.
    • Document - Select a document on the mobile device.
    • Voice - Record an audio message and then attach it.

Manage Media Messages

You can delete, share, and forward the media files in your conversations.

  • Touch and hold the media message to select from one of the following options:
    • Delete - Remove the message.
    • Share - Send this file to others using other applications.
    • Forward - Send to other contacts using your apps.
  • If needed, tap the Settings  icon to use additional settings for the message:
    • Share - Forward the message to others.
    • Download file - Save a copy of the message's content to your mobile device.
    • Delete file - Remove the message.

Send an Audio Message

Send audio messages to others instead of typing messages or calling them.

To send an audio message:

  1. Open a conversation in the Messages  tab.
  2. Touch the Attachment  icon. 
  3. Tap the Voice icon.
  4. Touch the Record  icon to start recording.
  5. Touch the blinking Record  icon to stop recording.
  6. Enter a text message if needed. 
  7. Touch Send .

    ✔ An audio message will display as an audio player with a Play  icon.

Manage Audio Messages

You can listen, share, forward, and delete the audio messages in your chats.

  • Touch the Play  button to listen to the message.
  • Touch the Pause  button to pause the playback of the message.
  • Touch and hold the audio message to select from one of the following options:
    • Delete  (3) - Removes the message.
    • Share  (4) - Forward the message to others.
    • Settings  (2) - Opens additional settings:
      • Share - Forward the message to others.
      • Download file - Save a copy of the message's content to your mobile device.
      • Delete file - Remove the message.

Message Delivery Status

The marks displayed next to each message you send provide information about the message's delivery status.

MarkDescription
The message or attachment is successfully sent.
The message or attachment is sending in progress.

The message or attachment is unable to be sent out.

  • The most common reason for not being able to send or receive messages is a bad internet connection.
  • If the mobile device is connected to the Internet, check with the system administrator or the voice service provider.

Quick Tip: Having a bad internet connection is the most common reason for not being able to send or receive messages.

If the mobile device is connected to the Internet but is unable to send messages, check with the your IT, system administrator, or our technical support team.

Delete Conversations

You can delete specific messages, conversations, and all messages in the Primecall app.

WARNING: Deleting chat and SMS messages will only reflect in your app. Other participants will still be able to see those messages.

  • Delete a Conversation
    1. Tap the Messages  tab.
    2. Touch and hold a conversation until the Selected  icon appears.

      Quick Tip: Alternatively, you can touch  → Edit mode and then tap the conversation(s) to be deleted. 

    3. Tap another conversation, if needed.
    4. Touch Delete .
  • Delete All Messages
    1. Tap the Messages  tab.
    2. Touch  → Clear message history.
    3. Touch OK.
  • Delete a Message in a Conversation
    1. Open a conversation.
    2. Touch and hold a message.
    3. If needed, tap more messages to delete.
    4. Tap the Delete  icon.

Copy Messages

Copy the message content in this conversation and paste it into different conversations or applications.

  1. Open the conversation.
  2. Touch and hold a message.
  3. Tap any other messages that should be copied.
  4. Tap Copy .
  5. Paste the content to another location.

Add a Contact from a Conversation

To add a new contact for a recipient in a conversation…

  1. Open a conversation to that phone number.
  2.  Tap  → People and Options.
  3. Under People in this conversation, tap the phone number.
  4. Tap the Add Contact  icon.
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen to save the contact on the phone book.
